Opera Ensemble applicants

2 operatic arias:

One aria must be be in Italian
One aria must be accompanied by a recitative.
One art song may be substituted for an aria.

SINGERS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR OWN ACCOMPANIST.

Opera Scenes applicants

2 operatic arias:

One aria must be in Italian.
One art song may be substituted for an aria.

SINGERS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR OWN ACCOMPANIST.

COSI Academy applicants (for singers and pianists aged 17-19)

2 selections:

One selection must be in Italian.

All COSI Academy Applicants are to submit an application with uploaded recordings.

Collaborative Piano and Continuo applicants:

One movement of a piano sonata by Beethoven, Haydn, or Mozart, or a solo work which is representative of middle- or late- Romantic style, and two opera arias, in a collaborative performance with a singer provided by you.

NOTE: OPERA CHORUS APPLICANTS AND ALL NON-CONDUCTING INTERN APPLICANTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO AUDITION. Maximum number of selections permitted: 3

Audio/video Selections

SINGERS and COLLABORATIVE PIANISTS are strongly encouraged to do a live audition, especially if they live close to a COSI audition location, but all applications with uploaded audition videos are viable. OPERA COMPOSITION applicants may choose to upload videos to support their application. VIDEO RECORDINGS ARE REQUIRED FOR: All conducting applicants (opera and opera chorus) and COSI Academy applicants. Maximum number of selections permitted: 3

SINGERS for Opera Ensemble, Opera Scenes, ISP and Collaborative Piano & Continuo programs: Please list three musical references (one of which must be your primary teacher). OPERA COMPOSITION applicants: Please provide the names, telephone numbers and email addresses for two referees. OPERA CHORUS applicants: Please provide the name, phone number and email address of ONE of: your current Choir Director, Choir Accompanist, Section Lead, or Voice Teacher. All INTERNSHIP applicants: Please list three work references. Please include phone number and e-mail address.

Briefly indicate in a few sentences what you hope to achieve as a participant in the Independent Study Program for Student Singers or Independent Study Program for Advanced Singers (at post-master's degree, emerging professional or in-career professional levels). If you like, you may also indicate areas on which you would specifically like to focus, whether it be a role study, any technical issues, or other specific opportunities for personal and professional growth.

For Opera Composition applicants only:

In receiving your application for the program, we will then contact you to submit two examples of your compositions. Vocal and/or instrumental pieces are welcome though examples of previous operatic writing are encouraged.
