The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra along with the Hennings-Fischer Foundation is pleased to accept applications for the upcoming 17th annual Young Artist Competition. The competition is open to all instrumental (except piano) and opera applicants age 30 and under (as of 1-27-2018). Preliminary rounds will take place on January 24 & 25th with Finals on Saturday, January 27, 2018 (with audience). The preliminary and final rounds will take place at the Hall of Liberty, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles CA 90068. There will be a grand prize winner in the instrumental and opera category and both winners will appear in a regular subscription concert in the 2018-19 season. The winners will also receive an honorarium at the time of performance of $500. For instrumental applicants, a full concerto from the standard repertoire is required (memorization preferred) . For singers, please prepare three contrasting arias from the standard opera repertoire. Please bring your own accompanist to the preliminary and final rounds. If you would like to change repertoire before the competition, you do not have to contact us. Please bring one copy of a piano or solo score to the preliminary and final rounds. Recent past winners and finalists of the Burbank Philharmonic Hennings-Fischer competition have included Sopranos Julie Adams and Angela Meade and Violinists Nigel Armstrong, Aubree Oliverson, Heidi & Alexis Hatch and Qiaorong Ma.
